Adas is one of nine medicinal plants that are considered useful in the Anglo-Saxon. In Indonesia have been cultivated and sometimes as tanarnan seasoning or medicinal plants. HOW TO USE:

Asalnya dari Eropa Selatan dan Asia, dan karena manfaatnya kemudian banyak ditanam di Indonesia, India, Argentina, Eropa, dan Jepang. Terna berumur panjang, tinggi 50 cm - 2 m, tumbuh merumpun. Penyakit Yang Dapat Diobati :

Buah masak (Xiaohuixiang, hui-hsiang). Buah yang telah masak dikumpulkan, lalu dijemur sampai kering.

KEGUNAAN:
Buah bermanfaat untuk mengatasi :
- sakit perut (mulas), perut kembung, rasa penuh di lambung, mual, muntah, diare,
- sakit kuning (jaundice), kurang nafsu makan,
- batuk berdahak, sesak napas (asma),
- haid: nyeri haid, haid tidak teratur,
- air susu ibu (ASI) sedikit,
- putih telur dalam kencing (proteinuria),
- susah tidur (insomnia),
- buah pelir turun (orchidoptosis),
- usus turun ke lipat paha (hernia inguinalis),
- pembengkakan saluran sperma (epididimis),
- penimbunan cairan di dalam kantung buah zakar (hidrokel testis),
- mengurangi rasa sakit akibat batu dan membantu menghancurkannya,
- rematik gout, dan
- keracunan tumbuhan obat atau jamur.

Daun berkhasiat mengatasi :
- batuk,
- perut kembung, koilk,
- rasa haus, dan
- meningkatkan penglihatan.

CARA PEMAKAIAN :
Buah adas sebanyak 3 - 9 g direbus, minum atau buah adas digiling halus, lalu diseduh dengan air mendidih untuk diminum sewaktu hangat. Daun dimakan sebagai sayuran atau direbus, lalu diminum.
Pemakaian luar, buah kering digiling halus lalu digunakan untuk pemakaian lokal pada sariawan, sakit gigi, sakit telinga dan luka.
Minyak adas juga dapat digunakan untuk menggosok tubuh anak yang masuk angin.

CONTOH PEMAKAIAN :
1. Batuk
a. Siapkan serbuk buah adas sebanyak 5 g disedub dengan 1/2 cangkir air mendidih. Setelah dingin disaring, tambahkan 1 sendok teh madu. Aduk sampai merata, minum sekaligus.
Lakukan 2 kali sehari, sampai sembuh.
b. Siapkan daun saga 1/4 genggam, bunga kembang sepatu 2
kuntum, daun poko 1/5 genggam, bunga tembelekan 10 kuntum, bawang merah 2 butir, adas 1 sendok teh, pulosari 1 jari, rimpang jahe 1 jari, gula merah 3 jari, dicuci dan dipotong-potong
seperlunya. Rebus dengan 3 gelas air bersih sampai tersisa setengahnya. Setelah dingin disaring, lalu diminum. Lakukan 3 kali sehari, masing-masing 1/2 gelas.

2. Sesak napas
a. Ambil minyak adas sebanyak 10 tetes diseduh dengan 1 sendok makan air panas. Minum selagi hangat. Lakukan 3 kali sehari, sampai sembuh.
b. Siapkan adas 1/2 sendok teh, pulosari ¼ jari, rirnpang kencur 2 jari, rirnpang temulawak 1 jari, jintan hitam 114 sendok teh, daun poncosudo (Jasminum pubescens) 1/4 genggam, gula merah 3 jari, dicuci dan dipotong-potong seperlunya. Baban-bahan tadi lalu direbus dengan 4 1/2 gelas air bersih sampai tersisa kira-kira separonya. Setelah dingin disaring, dan siap untuk diminum. Sehari 3 kali, masing-masing 3/4 gelas.

3. Sariawan
Siapkan adas 3/4 sendok teh, ketumbar 3/4 sendok teh, daun iler 1/5 genggam, daun saga 1/4 genggam, sisik naga 1/5 genggam, daun sembung 1/4 genggam, pegagan 1/4 genggam, daun kentut 1/6 genggam, pulosari 3/4 jari, rimpang lempuyang wangi 1/2 jari, rimpang kunyit ½ jari, kayu manis ¾ jari, gula merah 3 jari, dicuci dan dipotong-potong seperlunya. Bahan-bahan tadi lalu direbus dengan 4 1/2 gelas air bersih sampai tersisa separonya. Setelah dingin disaring, siap untuk diminum. Sehari 3 kali, setiap kali cukup 3/4 gelas.

4. Haid tidak teratur
Siapkan daun dan bunga srigading masing-masing.1/5 genggam, jinten hitam 3/4 sendok teh, adas 1/2 sendok teh, pulosari 1/2 jari, bunga kesumba keling 2 kuntum, jeruk nipis 2 buah, gula batu sebesar telur ayam, dicuci lalu dipotong-potong seperlunya. Bahan-bahan tadi lalu direbus dengan 3 gelas air bersih sampai tersisa 2 1/4 gelas. Setelah dingin disaring, minurn 3 kali sehari,
masing-masing 3/4 gelas. Keracunan tumbuhan obat atau jamur Siapkan serbuk buah adas sebanyak 5 g, lalu seduh dengan setengah cangkir arak. Minum selagi hangat.

5. Batu empedu
Serbuk buah adas sebanyak 5 g diseduh dengan 1 cangkir air panas.

Komposisi :
SIFAT KIMIAWI DAN EFEK FARMAKOLOGIS Buah : buah masak mengandung bau aromatik, rasa sedikit manis, pedas, hangat, masuk meridian hati, ginjal, limpa, dan lambung. Daun : berbau aromatik Minyak dari buah : minyak adas (fennel oil). KANDUNGAN KIMIA : Adas mengandung minyak asiri (Oleum Foeniculi) 1 - 6%, mengandung 50 - 60% anetol, lebih kurang 20% fenkon, pinen, limonen, dipenten, felandren, metilchavikol, anisaldehid, asam anisat, dan 12% minyak lemak. Kandungan anetol yang menyebabkan adas mengeluarkan aroma yang khas dan berkhasiat karminatif. Akar mengandung bergapten. Akar dan biji mengandung stigmasterin (serposterin). Efek Farmakologis dan Hasil Penelitian : 1. Komponen aktifnya, anisaldehida, meningkatkan khasiat streptomycin untuk pengobatan TBC pada tikus percobaan. 2. Meningkatkan peristaltik saluran cerna dan merangsang pengeluaran kentut (flatus). 3. Menghilangkan dingin dan dahak. 4. Minyak adas yang mengandung anetol, fenkon, chavicol, dan anisaldehid berkhasiat menyejukkan saluran cerna dan bekerja menyerupai perangsang napsu makan. 5. Dari satu penelitian pada manusia dewasa, diternukan bahwa adas mempunyai efek menghancurkan batu ginjal. 6. Pada percobaan binatang, ekstrak dari rebusan daun adas dapat menurunkan tekanan darah. Namun, pengolahan cara lain tidak menunjukkan khasiat ini.
