Bangle grows in tropical Asia, from India to Indonesia. In Java, cultivated or planted in the yard in places that receive enough sunlight, ranging from lowland to 1300 m dpi. In stagnant or muddy soil, its growth will be disturbed and rhizome rot quickly. USE:
To drink: 1 / 2 rhizome, boiled.

HOW TO USE:
1. Fever, colds.
15 g fresh rhizome bangle washed and shredded. Add 1 / 2

Composition:

Bangle tumbuh di daerah Asia tropika, dari India sampai Indonesia. Di Jawa dibudidayakan atau di tanam di pekarangan pada tempat-tempat yang cukup mendapat sinar matahari, mulai dari dataran rendah sampai 1.300 m dpi. Pada tanah yang tergenang atau becek, pertumbuhannya akan terganggu dan rimpang cepat membusuk. Herba semusim, tumbuh tegak, tinggi 1-1,5 m, membentuk rumpun yang agak padat, berbatang semu, terdiri dari pelepah daun yang dipinggir ujungnya berambut sikat. Daun tunggal, letak berseling. Helaian daun lonjong, tipis, ujung runcing, pangkal tumpul, tepi rata, berambut halus, jarang, pertulangan menyirip, panjang 23-35 cm, lebar 20-40 mm, warnanya hijau. Bunganya bunga majemuk, bentuk tandan, keluar di ujung batang, panjang gagang sampai 20 cm. Bagian yang mengandung bunga bentuknya bulat telur atau seperti gelendong, panjangnya 6-10 cm, lebar 4-5 cm. Daun kelopak tersusun seperti sisik tebal, kelopak bentuk tabung, ujung bergerigi tiga, warna merah menyala. Bibir bunga bentuknya bundar memanjang, warnanya putih atau pucat. Bangle mempunyai rimpang yang menjalar dan berdaging, bentuknya hampir bundar sampai jorong atau tidak beraturan, tebal 2-5 mm. Permukaan luar tidak rata, berkerut, kadang-kadang dengan parut daun, warnanya coklat muda kekuningan, bila dibelah berwarna kuning muda sampai kuning kecoklatan. Rasanya tidak enak, pedas dan pahit. Bangle digolongkan sebagai rempah-rempah yang memiliki khasiat obat. Panenan dilakukan setelah tanaman berumur satu tahun. Perbanyakan dengan stek rimpang.

KEGUNAAN:
Rimpang:
- Demam, sakit kepala.
- Batuk berdahak.
- Perut nyeri, masuk angin.
- Sembelit.

- Cacingan.
- Rheumatism.
- Ramuan jamu pada wanita setelah melahirkan.
- Mengecilkan perut setelah melahirkan.
- Kegemukan.

Daun:
· Tidak napsu makan.
· Perut terasa penuh.

PEMAKAIAN:
Untuk minum: 1/2-3.jari rimpang, direbus.
Pemakaian luar. Rimpang secukupnya dicuci bersih Ialu diparuti dipakai sebagai tapal atau boreh pada sakit kepala, pegal linu, mengecilkan perut sehabis melahirkan, dan sebagainya.

CARA PEMAKAIAN:
1. Demam, masuk angin.
15 g rimpang bangle yang segar dicuci lalu diparut. Tambahkan 1/2
cangkir air panas dan 2 sendok makan madu. Diaduk merata lalu
diperas dan disaring, minum. Lakukan 2 kali sehari.

2. Perut mules:
Rimpang bangle, rimpang jahe, kencur dan lempuyang wangi,
masing-masing 1/2 jari tangan dicuci lalu diiris tipis-tipis. Rebus
dengan 1 gelas air bersih sampai tersisa 1/2 gelas. Setelah dingin
disaring, lalu diminum.

3. Sakit kepala karena demam:
Rimpang segar secukupnya dicuci bersih lalu diparut. Tambahkan
sedikit air sampai menjadi adonan seperti bubur. Dipakai sebagai
pilis pada dahi.

4. Sakit kuning:
1/2 jari rimpang bangle dicuci bersih lalu diparut. Tambahkan air
masak dan madu masing-masing 1 sendok makan. Peras dan saring,
minum. Lakukan 2 kali sehari.

5. Nyeri sendi (rheumatism):
Rimpang segar secukupnya dicuci Ialu diparut, tambahkan arak
sampai menjadi adonan seperti bubur encer. Borehkan kebagian
sendi yang sakit.

6. Mengecilkan perut setelah melahirkan:
Rimpang bangle secukupnya dicuci lalu diparut, borehkan pada
perut.

7. Cacingan:
3 jari rimpang bangle, 2 jari temu hitam, 5 biji ketumbar dan 5 lembar
tangkai daun sirih dicuci lalu diiris tipis-tipis, kemudian ditumbuk
halus. Tambahkan 1/ 2 cangkir air masak, diaduk merata lalu
diperas dan disaring. Minum.

8. Radang seiaput lendir mata:
Rimpang bangle dan kunyit sebesar 1 buku jari tangan dan 13 butir
jinten hitam dicuci bersih lalu dipotong-potong seperlunya. Rebus
dengan 1 gelas air bersih sampai tersisa setengahnya. Setelah
dingin disaring, minum.

9. Kegemukan / mengurangi lemak tubuh:
a. Sepotong rimpang bangle dan 7 lembar daun jati belanda dicuci
lalu direbus dengan 1,5 gelas air bersih sampai tersisa 1 gelas.
Setelah dingin disaring, dibagi untuk 2 kali minum. Pagi dan
sore hari.

b. 1/2 jari rimpang bangle, 1/2 jari rimpang temu giring, 3/4 jari
rimpang lempuyang wangi, 1/4 genggam daun kemuning, 1/4
genggam daun jati belanda, 3 jari gula enau, dicuci dan dipotong-
potong seperlunya. Rebus dengan 4 1/2 gelas air bersih sampai
tersisa 1/2-nya. Setelah dingin disaring, minum. Sehari 3 x 3/4
gelas.

c. Rimpang bangle dan rimpang temu hitam, masing-masing 1/2 jari
tangan, dicuci lalu diparut. Tambahkan 1 sendok makan air jeruk
nipis dan 2 sendok makan madu, aduk merata sambil diremas-
remas. Peras dan saring, minum. Lakukan 2-3 kali sehari.

Komposisi :
SIFAT KIMIAWI DAN EFEK FARMAKOLOGIS: Rimpang berbau khas aromatik, rasanya agak pahit dan agak pedas. Penurun panas (anti piretik), peluruh kentut (karminatif), peluruh dahak (expectorant), pembersih darah, pencahar (laksan), obat cacing (vermifuge). KANDUNGAN KIMIA: Rimpang: minyak atsiri (sineol, pinen), damar, pati, tanin.
